What to do if the access to the Time-based OTP (TOTP) Authenticator app is lost?

If access to the authenticator app is lost, follow these steps:

Kite App

  1. Tap on Forgot user ID or password?.
  2. Enter the User ID and PAN.
  3. Select Receive on E-mail or SMS. If E-mail is selected, enter the registered email ID and captcha and tap on Reset. If SMS is selected, enter the registered mobile number and captcha and tap on Reset.
  4. Enter the OTP and click on Continue.
  5. Enter the new password and Tap on Continue.
  6. Select Method 2.
  7. Tap on Setup TOTP.
  8. Set up an external authenticator such as Google authenticator. To download, visit Google Playstore (WEB) or App store (WEB).
  9. Tap on Can’t scan? Copy key.
  10. In the Enter the 6 digit app TOTP field, enter the TOTP generated on Authy and tap on Continue.
  11. The password will be reset. Tap on Login here to continue.
  12. Login to Kite using TOTP.


Kite Web

  1. Visit kite.zerodha.com.
  2. Click on Forgot user ID or password?
  3. Enter the User ID and PAN.
  4. Select Receive on Email or SMS. If E-mail is selected, enter the registered email ID and captcha and click on Reset. If SMS is selected, enter the registered mobile number and captcha and click on Reset.
  5. Enter the OTP and click on Continue.
  6. Enter the new password and click on Continue.
  7. Select Method 2: External authenticator and click on Setup TOTP.
  8. Set up an external authenticator such as Google authenticator. To download, visit Google Playstore (WEB) or App store (WEB).
  9. Click on Can’t scan? Copy key.
  10. Set up the TOTP on Authy.
  11. In the Enter the 6 digit app TOTP field, enter the TOTP generated on Authy and click on Continue.
  12. The password will be reset. Click on Login here to continue.
  13. Login to Kite using TOTP.
