How do I convert my demat account to a Basic Service Demat Account(BSDA) at Zerodha?
A demat account is automatically converted to a Basic Service Demat Account (BSDA) if it meets the following criteria:
- Only one demat account is held per PAN.
The value of stocks, mutual funds, bonds, etc in the account is lower than ₹2 lakh on the date when Account Maintenance Charge (AMC) is levied. See
What is Account Maintenance Charge (AMC) with regard to my demat account at Zerodha?
The AMC will be charged quarterly from the account opening date based on the value of the holdings:
|Holding value||AMC Charges (exclusive of GST)|
|Up to Rs 50,000||No AMC|
|Rs 50,001 to Rs 2,00,000||Rs 100|
|Above Rs. 2,00,000||Rs. 300|
AMC is charged considering the highest holding value during the charge period. If the holding value crosses ₹2 lakh anytime during the quarter, the AMC charge will be ₹300 + GST per year. If more than one demat account is held, other demat accounts must be closed to benefit from the lower AMC. If the conditions are not met, the BSDA account will be converted to a regular account.
