Why is the withdrawable balance negative?

The withdrawable balance will be negative in the following scenarios:

  • Your Zerodha account is in a debit balance.
  • Your funds are yet to be settled to your Zerodha account. In India, exchanges follow a rolling settlement cycle. Exchanges require T+1 day to settle funds from selling equities and F&O trades to your Zerodha account before you can withdraw them. Until then, the withdrawal amount is displayed in negative, indicating that it is still being processed for settlement. Your withdrawable balance becomes positive once the funds are settled.

Withdrawal requests placed when the withdrawal balance is negative will not be processed.
