Why do candles turn red even when the closing price is higher than the open?

The candle appears red despite its closing price being higher than its opening price because the Colour bars based on the previous close setting are enabled on the chart.

When this setting is active, the candle color is determined by comparing the current candle's closing price to the previous candle’s closing price, rather than its own opening price.

To restore default candle coloring on the chart, follow these steps:

On the Kite app

  1. Go to charts from watchlist and tap on the Settings (gear) icon.
  2. Tap on the Symbol.
  3. Under the Candles section, uncheck the Color bars based on previous close.
  4. Tap on Ok.

On the Kite web

  1. Open the chart on Kite and click on the Settings (gear) icon.
  2. Click on Symbol.
  3. Under the Candles section, uncheck the Color bars based on previous close.
  4. Click Ok.
