Why does the default Renko brick size differ between Kite app and Kite web for the same stock?

Default Renko brick sizes are calculated using an automated algorithm called Average True Range (ATR) that processes recent price history.

Desktop browsers (Kite web) load a deeper historical data buffer than mobile apps (Kite app) to optimise mobile bandwidth. Because of this, the algorithm calculates volatility across different data sets on each device.

To make the chart identical across both platforms, you can change the Renko settings from ATR to Traditional and manually enter a fixed brick size.

To set a fixed brick size:

  • Open the Renko chart on TradingView on Kite web or Kite app.
  • Click or tap on Chart settings (the gear icon).
  • Click or tap on Symbol.
  • Change the Box size assignment from ATR to Traditional.
  • Enter your preferred brick size.
  • Repeat the same steps on the Kite app or web and enter the exact same brick size.
