Why am I not able to sell shares allotted to me in an IPO?

If you've been allotted shares in an IPO, you will not be able to directly sell it from your holdings on Kite. If you do you will get an error -'rms:rule: check holdings, no holdings present for entity account'.

You will have to add the stock to your Marketwatch and then open the sell order window and then place your sell order.

Note: All new IPOs are listed on the exchange at 10:00 AM. The pre-open session is from 9:00 AM to 10.00 AM(orders are accepted until 9.45 AM). Refer this SEBI notification for more info. Also, stocks credited on a particular day will not be visible on the trading terminal on the same day.
