Why is the lot size of weekly Nifty contracts 75 when other Nifty contracts are trading with a lot size of 50?

NSE announced in March 2021 that the lot size of Nifty contracts will reduce from 75 to 50. All the monthly expiry contracts from July 2021 have a lot size of 50. However, the lot size of weekly expiry contracts will reduce from August 2021 onwards.

The following weekly contracts will continue to trade with a lot size of 75 until they expire:

  1. NIFTY 1st JULY
  2. NIFTY 8th JULY
  3. NIFTY 15th JULY
  4. NIFTY 22nd JULY
