Can I use a Paytm bank account to open a Zerodha account?

No, you cannot use a Paytm bank account to open a Zerodha account. The Reserve Bank of India stopped all debits and transactions to Paytm Payments Bank on 15th March 2024 due to non-compliance issues (PDF).

Impact on existing accounts

If you previously linked a Paytm bank account as your primary bank account with Zerodha, you cannot add funds to your trading account, even from secondary bank accounts that you have linked.

What you need to do

You must link a different bank account as your primary account. You can use:

  • Savings account
  • Current account
  • Cash Credit (CC) account
