Which stocks and mutual funds can be pledged with Zerodha for collateral margins?

The list of stocks and mutual funds that can be pledged with Zerodha for margins and the applicable haircut % can be found by visiting zerodha.com/approved-securities. They are divided into cash and non-cash components. However, some holdings cannot be pledged. To learn more, see Why can’t some holdings be pledged?

The collateral margin received by pledging non-cash component securities can be used only up to 50% of the margin requirement for open positions. The exchange stipulates that the remaining 50% margin is cash or equivalent collateral. Any additional utilisation of the non-cash collateral over and above 50% of the margin requirement will be liable to delayed payment charges. Did you know?

  • The collateral margin received by pledging cash component securities can be used fully towards any margin requirement for your open positions. There is no requirement to maintain cash separately if the margin requirement is covered by collateral from cash component securities.
  • The cost of pledging at Zerodha is Rs 30 + GST per pledge request, irrespective of the quantity pledged. There is no cost for un-pledging. To learn more about pledging, see What is pledging and how does it work?
  • Treasury Bills (T-Bills) with a maturity of 364 days can now be pledged for collateral margin. T-Bills with maturities of 91 and 182 days will be available soon.
