You can find the list of stocks and mutual funds that can be pledged with Zerodha for margins and the applicable haircut percentage by visiting zerodha.com/approved-securities. They are divided into cash and non-cash components. However, some holdings cannot be pledged.
Cash vs non-cash components
Non-cash component securities: You can use collateral margin from non-cash component securities only up to 50% of the margin requirement for your open positions. The exchange requires the remaining 50% as cash or equivalent collateral. Additional utilisation beyond 50% incurs delayed payment charges.
Cash component securities: You can use collateral margin from cash component securities fully towards any margin requirement for your open positions without maintaining separate cash.
Things to keep in mind
- The cost of pledging at Zerodha is ₹30 + GST per pledge request, irrespective of the quantity pledged. There is no cost for unpledging.
