Can funds be directly transferred from the equity segment to commodities and vice versa?
No, funds cannot be directly transferred from the equity segment to commodities and vice versa. Zerodha facilitates equity and commodity trades through two separate companies - Zerodha Broking Limited and Zerodha Commodities Private Limited. Equity and commodity funds are maintained separately with these two companies in compliance with regulations. Zerodha is working on merging the two companies so that clients can use one single ledger for their trades.
Currently, if funds from the equity segment are to be used in commodities (or vice-versa), the funds must first be withdrawn to the bank account and then added back to the segment of choice.
