How do I apply for an IPO in the existing shareholder category?

In some public issues, the company going public keeps a special reservation for existing shareholders of the group or holding company. If you apply for the IPO in the shareholder category, the likelihood of allotment can be higher since most other applicants apply in the retail category.

The process to apply in the shareholder category is the same as the general process explained here. Wherever applicable, the bidding window will have various investor types including "Individual Investor" and "Shareholder Investor" listed in the drop-down.

You will need to select the "Shareholder" investor type in the bidding window:

Note: In order for your application to be successfully considered by the RTA (Registrar and Transfer Agent) for allotment, you need to ensure that as on the date of the company's RHP (Red Herring Prospectus) filing to the ROC (Registrar of Companies), you hold the pre-requisite number of shares in your demat account held with any broker.
