Why did my currency order get rejected with the status - Clientwise position limit exceeds ,Current:5000.00, limit set:4999.00 for entity account-(user id) across exchange across segment across product

The exchange has mandated position limits in currency derivatives. Check out this circular from NSE and this section on the NSE website for more information regarding this.

In Consideration of the above, we have set the following limits -
  • USDINR-85000 lots
  • EURINR and GBPINR-5000 lots
  • JPYINR-2000 lots
If you try to place opening positions for quantities beyond these limits, you will get the above rejection status.
