What are market-wide circuit breakers?
Market-wide circuit breakers are a measure to stop trading activity temporarily when the market falls or rises rapidly beyond the set limits. These circuit breakers are triggered by the movement of either the BSE Sensex or the Nifty 50, whichever is breached earlier.
The index-based market-wide circuit breaker system applies at three stages of the index movement, either way, which is at 10%, 15%, and 20%. To learn more, visit nseindia.com/products-services/equity-market-circuit-breakers.
