What is the procedure to change the registered address for an NRI account?

To change the registered address for an NRI account, the following documents are required:

  1. Account modification form ( PDF ).
  2. Copy of overseas address proof. One of the following documents: Driving licence, foreign passport, utility bills, bank statement not more than two months, notarised copy of rental agreement, lease or sale deed, mariner’s declaration or certified copy of Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC) in case of merchant navy NRI’s.
  3. Copy of passport. In the case of an Indian passport, a copy of a valid passport with the place of birth as India and a copy of the valid visa. In the case of a foreign passport, a copy of the valid passport and a copy of the PIO or OCI card.
  4. Copy of Indian address proof, if available.

Copy of passport, foreign and Indian address proof should be self-attested and notarised by the Indian embassy or any other competent authority like authorised officials of overseas branches of scheduled commercial banks registered in India, public notaries, court magistrate, judge, or consulate general in the country where the NRI resides. The attesting authority should affix a Verified with original stamp, name, designation, signature and date on the documents.
