Can an account be opened in the name of a sole proprietorship firm?

No, an account cannot be opened in the name of a sole proprietorship firm with Zerodha as it is not a separate legal entity like a partnership or corporation.

However, an account can be opened online in the proprietors (individuals) name. See How do I open an account online? .

Did you know? If an account is being opened in the name of the individual, while submitting the bank details, the bank account can be in the name of the sole proprietorship firm, provided the bank statement or personalised cheque contains the details of both the proprietorship and the proprietor. If it doesn't contain the details, please provide a proprietor registration certificate or a confirmation letter from the respective bank by creating a ticket . See sample confirmation letter format (PDF).
