How to update or modify the nominee details in Zerodha?

You can modify certain nominee details online or delete nominees offline by submitting the required forms to Zerodha.

Online

You can modify the following nominee details online:

• Name change/correction
• Date of birth (DOB) of the nominee
• Address: You must submit ID proof of the nominee (Aadhaar or Driving Licence). If you submit Aadhaar, ensure you provide a masked Aadhaar
• Relationship
• Email ID (Zerodha doesn't allow Rediffmail email registration due to security concerns and email delivery issues.)
• Mobile number

If you need to change the nominee, modify details, or add any new details:

1. Download, print, and fill out the nominee form (PDF) and account modification form (PDF).
2. Sign both forms (with a wet signature). Ensure your signature matches the signature provided while opening your Zerodha account.
   
3. eSign both forms.
4. Create a ticket and attach both forms.

You cannot delete a nominee online. To delete or opt out of the nominee, you can follow the offline process:

Offline

If you want to remove your nominee:

1. Download and fill out the account modification form (PDF) and annexure 1B (PDF). Check the sample account modification form and annexure 1B (PDF) for reference.
2. Sign both forms. Ensure your signature matches the signature provided while opening your Zerodha account.
   
3. Courier the forms to the address below.

Things to keep in mind

• Zerodha charges ₹25 + 18% GST for account modifications.
• Ensure the nominees' names match their documents to facilitate easier claims in adverse situations.
• If Zerodha deactivates your account due to inactivity for 24 consecutive months and you do not fill out Re-KYC within 30 days, Zerodha sends an email to your nominee.
• If your nominee is a minor, provide the guardian details and ID proof. You cannot add the account holder as the guardian of the nominee.
• Your nominee applies to your trading and demat account, including mutual fund investments through Coin.
• Joint account holders can only add nominees offline.
• NRIs can add nominees online if their Aadhaar is linked to their active mobile number.
• You cannot add charitable trusts as nominees.
• Dormant account holders must reactivate their account before modifying or changing a nominee.
