Why is my demat account frozen?
The demat account can be frozen for multiple reasons. The top reasons are:
- Freeze initiated based on the request of the account holder.
- Freeze initiated based on the request of a statutory body or statutory authority that is set up by law.
- Freeze initiated due to invalid or non-compliant KYC and PAN related issues.
- Freeze initiated if minor turned major.
- Freeze initiated due to non-payment of dues of DP.
- Freeze based on the request of the SEBI order/SEBI directive.
- Freeze initiated based on the request of judicial authorities/court order.
- Freeze initiated based on the request of law enforcement agencies/Police/Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI).
- Freeze initiated based on the request of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
- Freeze initiated based on the request of the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO).
- Freeze initiated based on the request of the Directorate of Enforcement (ED).
- Freeze initiated based on the request of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
- Freeze initiated based on the request of the Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT).
- Freeze initiated based on the request of Income Tax/Service Tax/Sales Tax/Customs/Central Excise.
- Freeze initiated due to 6 KYC attributes (name, PAN, valid mobile number and email ID, complete address and income details).

- Freeze initiated for being the designated person of the company.
