Why is my demat account frozen?

The demat account can be frozen for multiple reasons. The top reasons are:

  • Freeze initiated based on the request of the account holder.
  • Freeze initiated based on the request of a statutory body or statutory authority that is set up by law.
  • Freeze initiated due to invalid or non-compliant KYC and PAN related issues.
  • Freeze initiated if minor turned major.
  • Freeze initiated due to non-payment of dues of DP.
  • Freeze based on the request of the SEBI order/SEBI directive.
  • Freeze initiated based on the request of judicial authorities/court order.
  • Freeze initiated based on the request of law enforcement agencies/Police/Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI).
  • Freeze initiated based on the request of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
  • Freeze initiated based on the request of the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO).
  • Freeze initiated based on the request of the Directorate of Enforcement (ED).
