What does lock-in period mean?
The lock-in period refers to the period of time during which the units of a mutual fund cannot be redeemed. This is applicable to Equity Linked Savings Scheme (ELSS) or retirement funds. See What are ELSS funds and how will it help me in tax planning?

- ELSS mutual funds have a lock-in period of 3 years.
- Retirement mutual funds have a lock-in for a period of 5 years or till retirement.
