The lock-in period is the time during which you cannot redeem your mutual fund units. This applies to specific fund types like Equity Linked Savings Scheme (ELSS) and retirement funds.
Lock-in periods by fund type
- ELSS funds: You can redeem your units only after 3 years from the investment date.
- Retirement funds: You can redeem units only after 5 years or upon retirement, whichever comes first.
You can view the remaining lock-in period for your investments in the holdings section of your account.
