Why did Zerodha send an email asking for KYC information?

You received this email because Zerodha needs to collect your updated details and ensure your Know Your Customer (KYC) is registered with the KYC Registration Agency (KRA) before you can continue trading. NSE, BSE, and MCX regulations require this verification.

  • Zerodha may square off your open positions if you do not verify your KYC. Auto square off charges of ₹50 plus 18% GST will apply for each order squared off.
  • If you have a joint account, you must ensure KYC verification for all account holders.
  • Due to high volume of requests, processing your KYC information may take an additional 48 hours.

Your KYC status could be "On Hold" or "Rejected" with the KRA for the reasons mentioned below.
