Why do I need to submit an immigration document while opening an NRI account?

You need to submit an immigration document when opening an NRI account while visiting India because regulations require proof of your current physical presence in the country. You can verify your presence by uploading a copy of your passport page that displays your latest immigration arrival stamp.

If you entered India using the Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Travellers' Programme (FTI-TTP) eGates and did not receive a physical stamp on your passport, you can verify your entry by uploading any one of the following documents:

  • FTI-TTP approval: The official email confirming your Trusted Traveller status.
  • Proof of travel: A recent boarding pass or air ticket that clearly shows your arrival date.
  • Portal records: Download your travel details or history by logging into the FTI-TTP portal.
