How long does it take to open an account, and where can you track the status?

Your Zerodha account will be opened within 48 hours if your KYC is verified and all documents submitted are correct. To check your KYC status, see What is Know Your Customer (KYC), and how can the KYC status be checked? Once your account is opened, your login credentials will be sent to your registered email.

Potential delays in account opening

If you're opening a Zerodha account for the first time, or if you choose to update your KYC details during the account opening process, your KYC details need verification by the KYC Registration Agency (KRA) before your account can be opened. This is required by SEBI guidelines (WEB).

The KRA can take up to 72 hours to verify your KYC details, which might delay your account opening.

If your KYC is not approved

If your KYC information is not approved by the KRA, Zerodha will send you an email explaining why and listing the documents required. To learn more, see Why was the account opening application put on hold?

Tracking your application

To track your account opening status, log in to signup.zerodha.com.

If your account opening is delayed for more than 48 working hours, please create a ticket.
