Why does this restriction exist
As per the SEBI circular, intermediaries must ensure the client's physical location is in India while onboarding. We comply with this regulation by restricting IP addresses to India when you open an account. However, if you are using a VPN, we may detect your IP address as outside of India.
Solutions based on your situation
- If you are a resident Indian currently in a foreign country: You must complete the account opening process when you are in India.
- If you are an NRI: You need to open an NRI Zerodha account.
- If your IP address is undetected: Retry using an alternative network.
