Why is my PAN barred from opening a trading and demat account?

SEBI or exchanges may debar your PAN from trading in the securities market when you do not comply with regulations.

Additionally, Zerodha may restrict you from opening an account due to internal risk and compliance checks, even if your PAN is not barred by SEBI or exchanges.

How to check if your PAN is barred

You can check the consolidated list of barred PANs on the exchange websites:

What to do if your ban is revoked

If the ban is by SEBI, request the revocation letter. If the ban is from the exchange, contact the respective exchange and request for the clarification letter and create a ticket and attach the letter to proceed with opening your Zerodha account.
