Why does my market order in the pre-open session change to a limit order?

Your unmatched market order from the pre-open session automatically converts to a limit order when regular trading begins, retaining its original time stamp. The limit order is priced at the equilibrium price, which is the price at which the maximum number of shares can be traded based on demand and supply.

If no equilibrium price is discovered, your market order becomes a limit order at the previous day's closing price.
