How to use the redesigned Marketwatch on Kite Web?
You can now organise your Kite Web Marketwatch with custom groups, increased limits, and pre-defined watchlists. The redesigned Marketwatch allows you to sort hundreds of instruments based on sectors, strategies, themes, or ideas, making it easier to find specific instruments quickly.
What's new in the redesigned Marketwatch?
- Increased capacity with up to 25 watchlists and 250 instruments per list
- Custom groups for organising instruments within each watchlist
- Pre-defined watchlists for quickly tracking major indices
Increased limits
The redesigned Marketwatch offers expanded capacity to help you organise your trading instruments better:
- Create up to 25 different watchlists (increased from the previous limit of 7)
- Add up to 250 instruments per watchlist (increased from the previous limit of 100)
- Navigate through large watchlists easily with new up and down arrow buttons
Using the custom groups feature
You can now sort instruments within a single watchlist using custom groups:
- Create multiple groups in any watchlist
- Name each group according to your preference (e.g., Auto sector, IT sector)
- Assign different colours to each group for easier identification
Managing your groups
- Minimise or maximise a group by clicking on the group name, pressing the space button, or clicking the minimise/maximise icon.
- Rename a group by clicking the pencil icon and typing a new name.
- Reorder groups by dragging them to your preferred position.
-
Move an entire group to a different watchlist by clicking
More
, selecting
Move
, choosing the destination watchlist, and clicking
Move.
- Sort instruments within any group by clicking More, then Sort, and selecting your preferred sorting method (percentage change, last price, alphabetically, or by exchange).
Note that while you can create as many groups as needed in a watchlist, the total instrument limit remains 250 per watchlist.
Custom groups for options strategies
You can use the custom Groups feature to effectively monitor multiple strike prices within a single options strategy. For instance, track all four legs of an Iron Condor in one place by creating a group named Iron Condor. Within this group, add:
- Two out-of-the-money (OTM) call options at different strike prices
- Two out-of-the-money (OTM) put options at different strike prices
This setup gives you a complete view of your Iron condor's risk profile, allowing you to monitor all four legs as a unified strategy rather than separate positions.
For volatility-based strategies like straddles and strangles, create specific groups with descriptive names:
- In a "Straddles" group: Add matching call and put options at the same strike prices
- In a "Strangles" group: Add OTM call and put options at different strike prices
The colour-coding feature makes it even easier to distinguish between different strategy types. For instance, you could use green for your bullish strategies and red for bearish ones.
If you are tracking strategies across different expiry dates, you could create separate groups for each expiry. For example:
- June Iron Condor
- July Straddles
- Weekly Strangles
Moving instruments between groups
You can easily move instruments between groups using the drag-and-drop feature:
- Click and hold the drag icon next to any instrument.
- Drag it to your desired group and release.
Managing your watchlists
To create and manage your watchlists:
Press CTRL + Shift + K or click the Create/Manage Marketwatches icon.
You can view all your existing watchlist from this section. You can also create new watchlists, rename or delete existing ones as needed. Your watchlists are now organised in two sections:
- Favourites : Displays up to 7 of your top watchlists that appear under the numbers at the bottom of your screen.
- Others : Contains all your remaining watchlists.
To add a watchlist to your Favourites , simply drag and drop it into the Favourites section. Please note that you're limited to 7 favourites.
Using pre-defined watchlists
The new Discover section offers pre-defined watchlists with ready-made collections of instruments across different themes:
- Click on any pre-built watchlist to view all its stocks.
- Click the Add to My Lists button to add it to your watchlists.
Pre-defined watchlists display a lock icon, indicating they update automatically. For example, if you add the Nifty 50 index watchlist, your list will automatically update whenever the index composition changes.
To customise a pre-built watchlist:
- Click the Customise icon.
-
Click
Continue.
Note that once customised, the watchlist will no longer update automatically, but you can still edit it manually.
Personalising your Marketwatch settings
You can customise your Marketwatch display through the settings menu:
- Choose whether to display price changes based on the previous close price or today's open price.
- Show or hide specific elements: Price change, Price change percentage, Price direction, Holdings, Notes, and Group colours.
- Select your preferred sorting method for instruments within your watchlist.
