What does the error "There may be a discrepancy with this stock" mean?

You see this discrepancy alert when the buy average for an instrument in your holdings is unavailable. This happens when you receive stocks through:

  • Off-market transfers into your demat account
  • Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs)
  • Initial Public Offerings (IPOs)
  • Corporate actions such as bonus issues or stock splits

If you received stocks through an off-market transfer, you can update the buy average for discrepant instruments in Console.
Zerodha automatically updates the buy averages for IPOs and corporate actions. You do not need to manually enter this information.
