Things to keep in mind

  • There are no charges for the transmission process.
  • Once Zerodha receives the valid documents, the transmission process will be completed within 21 working days.
  • Lock-in shares and SGBs will only be moved to the nominee's CDSL demat account.
  • The credit fund balance of the deceased will be transferred to the nominee's bank account mentioned in the CMR. If you wish to claim the funds to a bank account other than the one in the CMR, you can provide additional bank proof.
  • If the deceased has a debit balance, the nominee/s must provide a cheque in the name of Zerodha Broking Ltd.
  • The deceased's name must match the name on the CMR and the death certificate. If there is a mismatch, the nominee must submit a notarised name-mismatch affidavit.
  • The nominee's name on the demat account or Client Master Report (CMR) must match the nominee's name in the deceased person's account or CMR, and on the forms. If there is any mismatch, you must provide a name mismatch affidavit.
  • If the nominee/s is a minor, they must be represented by their natural guardian (father or mother). You must submit a guardian relationship affidavit along with the minor's birth certificate. In the case of a legal guardian, a valid court order must be submitted. The guardian must sign the documents on behalf of the minor.
  • If multiple nominees are registered, all nominees must sign the TRF in the registered nomination sequence.
  • If the nominee does not have a demat account, they can open the account with Zerodha by visiting signup.zerodha.com.
