Why did Zerodha send an email stating multiple accounts have been created using the same mobile number or email ID?

SEBI (WEB) requires each client to have a unique mobile number and email ID. If you and your family members shared contact details across accounts, you need to submit a "Shared contact details declaration" (PDF) with:

  • Your signature
  • Your family member's ID proof (birth certificate, marriage certificate, passport, masked Aadhaar, or PAN)

Family members are restricted to spouse, dependent children, and dependent parents. Each family member must also submit a separate "Account contact details declaration" (PDF).

For business accounts (HUF, corporate, partnership)

Example scenario

Mr Vijay Sharma has a Zerodha account (mobile: 99XXXX7890, email: [email protected]). He also opened accounts for his son, wife, and parents using the same contact details.

He must:

  • Submit the Shared contact declaration
  • Ensure each family member submits their own Account Contact details declaration

How to submit

Online

  1. Print the declaration forms.
  2. Fill in the details.
  3. Ensure your signature matches the signature you provided while opening your account.
  4. Scan the forms.
  5. eSign and submit the form with your ID proof by creating a ticket.

Offline

  1. Print the "Shared contact details declaration" (PDF), "Account contact details declaration" (PDF), or non-individual account declaration form (PDF).
  2. Fill in the details.
  3. Courier the forms with ID proof for family accounts to:

Zerodha Customer Support Centre
