Why do two charts of the same timeframe look different on the same platform?

You may notice differences between two charts of the same timeframe on the same platform because charts use different data sources depending on when you open them.

How charts are formed

Charts plot price points from live market data. When you view a live chart, the platform uses real-time market watch ticks from the server. However, when you open a new chart, the platform retrieves stored data points from the data server.

Why do the differences occur

The number of price points available differs between live and stored data:

  • Live charts: Use 4-5 price points broadcasted in real-time within the same timeframe
  • New charts: Use stored data points, which may contain only 1 tick recorded within the same timeframe

This variation in the number of price points creates the visual differences you observe between charts of the same timeframe.

These differences are normal and result from how chart data is processed and stored. Both charts remain accurate representations of market movement, but they may appear slightly different due to the varying number of data points used in their formation.
