How to spot investment scams using Zerodha's name?

Zerodha will never ask you to transfer money to random bank accounts or pressure you into quick decisions.

You can spot fake investment scams by recognising red flags like exclusive WhatsApp group invitations, requests for login credentials or OTPs, money transfers to random accounts, or fake apps that look like Zerodha.

Zerodha never asks for your login credentials, OTPs, or money transfers to personal accounts through WhatsApp or unofficial channels. Zerodha only calls for account opening issues, margin calls, or compliance matters and never for personal information, advisory services, or stock tips.

To confirm the authenticity of a call or email claiming to be from Zerodha, ensure that the contact details match Zerodha’s official phone numbers or emails.

What to do if you encounter investment scams?

If you come across these scams:

  • Stop immediately and don't transfer any money
  • Don't give out your login credentials or any OTP
  • Report the scam by creating a ticket
  • Call the cybercrime helpline at 1930
  • File a complaint on cybercrime.gov.in

What should I do if I have shared my login or OTP details?

If you have already shared your login credentials or OTP, you can voluntarily freeze or block the Zerodha account immediately by emailing [email protected] from your registered email, calling 080 4680 1166 from your registered mobile, or creating a ticket.
