Account Maintenance Charge (AMC), previously known as Annual Maintenance Charge, is the fee you pay to maintain your demat account with Zerodha. Zerodha charges AMC quarterly, i.e., every 91 days from your account opening date, and deducts it directly from your Zerodha account. AMC is posted in your funds statement.
AMC charges for Basic Services Demat Account (BSDA)
The AMC for a Basic Services Demat Account (BSDA) account is charged based on the value of the holdings and is as follows:
| Holding value | Annual charges | Quarterly charges |
| Up to ₹4,00,000 | ₹0 | ₹0 |
| ₹4,00,000 to ₹10,00,000 | ₹100 + 18% GST | ₹25 + 18% GST |
Your account will not qualify as BSDA if your holding value exceeds ₹10,00,000.
AMC charges for non-BSDA accounts
| Type of account | Annual charges | Quarterly charges |
| Individual, HUF, and partnership firms | ₹300 + 18% GST | ₹75 + 18% GST |
| NRI | ₹500 + 18% GST | ₹125 + 18% GST |
| Corporates, i.e. LLPs and private & public companies | ₹1,000 + 18% GST | ₹250 + 18% GST |
| IL&FS demat (accounts opened before 15th Sep 2015) | ₹400 + 18% GST | ₹100 + 18% GST |
AMC charges for a secondary demat account
If you have a secondary demat account with Zerodha, you will be charged ₹300 + 18% GST annually (₹75 + 18% GST quarterly) for each account separately:
- ₹300 + 18% GST for your primary account
- ₹300 + 18% GST for your secondary account
Your accounts will not qualify as BSDA accounts when you have multiple demat accounts. BSDA criteria require you to have only one demat account. Even if your primary account has holdings worth ₹20,000 and your secondary account has holdings worth ₹40,000 (both under the ₹4 lakh BSDA limit individually), you will still pay regular AMC charges for both accounts instead of the reduced BSDA charges.
