Why was my mutual fund order on Coin rejected for exceeding ₹50,000?

If your mutual fund order was rejected, you can check your order history for one of the following error messages:

  • Aadhaar-EKYC Investment Amount Exceeds Rs. 50K
  • Amount (51000) is greater than (50000) for financial period
  • PAN Exemption number is given. Requested amount is greater than 50000
  • E KYC ALLOWED Rs 50000 ONLY A FINANCIAL YEAR
  • eKYC investor - not meeting the eligibility criteria
  • Transaction rejected due to Amount (60000) is greater than (50000) for the financial period

Under SEBI regulations, investors who completed KYC through OTP-based eKYC or without In-Person Verification (IPV) are subject to an annual investment limit of ₹50,000 per mutual fund. To invest beyond this limit, you need to complete the full re-KYC process.

How to complete re-KYC

  1. Visit account.zerodha.com/account.
  2. Click on Login and log in using your Zerodha credentials.
  3. Click on Complete Rekyc.
  4. Select the segments you want to activate and click on Continue.
  5. Update your contact details if required and click on Continue.
  6. Update your profile details, including your annual income, and click on Continue.
  7. Click on Update Address and then on Continue.
  8. Click on Continue and enter your Aadhaar number.
  9. Enter the captcha and click on Next.
  10. Enter the OTP and click on Continue.
  11. Enter your 6-digit security PIN and click on Continue.
  12. Update your bank account if required and click on Continue.
  13. Complete the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) declaration and click on Continue.
  14. Upload income proof to trade in F&O (optional).
  15. Complete the In-Person Verification (IPV).
  16. Click on Sign now and complete e-sign by entering your Aadhaar number. The name on your Aadhaar must match your digital signature (eSign), or your forms will be rejected. You can update your name during the eSigning process if there is a mismatch.
  17. Enter the OTP and click on Verify OTP.

Zerodha updates your KYC details within 72 working hours of completing the above steps. You will be charged an account modification fee of ₹25 + 18% GST.
