How can shares be claimed if a nominee was not appointed and the holdings and funds are worth less than ₹30 lakhs?

If the deceased’s account has holdings and funds worth less than ₹30 lakhs, the following documents must be submitted by the claimant/s to notify and claim the holdings and funds:

  • Notifier form (PDF).
  • Transmission Request Form (TRF) (PDF).
  • Hard copy of the Client Master Report (CMR) of the claimant/s with DP seal and signature, or a soft copy of the digitally signed CMR. A CMR is not required if the claimant has an account with Zerodha.
  • Death certificate of the deceased holder (original/ notarised/ with a verifiable QR code)
  • Bond of Indemnity (BOI) (PDF) from the claimant on stamp paper. The claimant is the first party, and Zerodha Broking Ltd is the second party.
  • Affidavit-cum-No Objection Certificate (NOC) (PDF) to be submitted by the claimant and non-claimant on stamp paper (the claimant is the first party, and Zerodha Broking Ltd is the second party), or a family settlement deed.
  • Self-attested PAN of the claimant(s).

All pages of the BOI and the Affidavit-cum-NOC must be signed by a Notary public or JMFC on non-judicial stamp paper. The value of the stamp paper depends on which state the claimant resides in, like Karnataka or Maharashtra, and the current holding value of the deceased's account.
