How to add another nominee, update an existing nominee's details, or remove a nominee?

You can add another nominee or modify your existing nominee details by following these steps.

1. Download, print, and fill out the nominee form (PDF) and account modification form (PDF). Sample copy (PDF).
2. Sign both forms with a wet signature. Ensure your signature matches the signature provided while opening your Zerodha account.
3. eSign both forms.
4. Create a ticket and attach both signed forms.

Your nominee details will be updated within 7 days.

• If you are adding an additional nominee: In the account modification form, mention your existing nominee under the Existing details section, and mention both your existing nominee and the new nominee under the New details section.
• If you are modifying existing nominee details: In the account modification form, mention the current details under the Existing details section, and mention the updated details under the New details section.

Removing a nominee

1. Download, print, and fill out the account modification form (PDF) and Annexure 1B (PDF). You can also refer to the sample account modification form for nominee deletion (PDF).
2. Sign both forms with a wet signature. Ensure your signature matches the signature you provided when opening your Zerodha account.
3. eSign both forms.
4. Create a ticket and attach both signed forms.

Things to keep in mind

• Zerodha charges ₹25 + 18% GST for account modifications.
• Your nominees' names must match their documents to facilitate easier claims in adverse situations.
• If Zerodha deactivates your account due to inactivity for 24 consecutive months and you do not complete Re-KYC (Know Your Customer re-verification) within 30 days, Zerodha will send an email to your nominees.
• If your nominee is a minor, provide the guardian's details and ID proof. You cannot add the account holder as the nominee's guardian.
• For minor accounts, you can only appoint the minor's father or mother as the nominee. To appoint a different family member as the nominee, you'll need to submit a legal guardianship certificate. If you don't have a legal guardianship certificate, you can submit a family tree instead.
  
• Your nominee applies to your trading and demat account, including mutual fund investments through Coin.
  
• A body corporate, trust, society, partnership firm, Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) and Association of Persons (AOP) cannot be appointed as a nominee.
• You cannot add nominees to non-individual accounts.
