Zerodha sends this email alert when you log in from a new city or IP address. This alert ensures that you are notified of possible account breaches and helps maintain your account security. Zerodha also sends a mobile notification on the Kite app.
Zerodha verifies location using the IP address from which the login request is made. This alert may appear even when switching between broadband and mobile networks that have different IP addresses.
Location may appear different from your physical location, even for genuine logins, because location is determined using your IP address. In such cases:
- Verify your IP address.
- Compare the IP address shown on Google with the one visible in the email alert.
- If both IP addresses match, ignore the email.
You can also set up TOTP (Time-based One-Time Password) on your account for additional security.
