What is In-Person Verification (IPV), and why is it required?
It is recommended to use Google Chrome to complete the IPV.
In-Person Verification (IPV) is the process of verifying that the person opening the account and the documents submitted are of the same person. As per regulations, brokers can perform this verification through video.
To complete your IPV:
- Visit signup.zerodha.com/ipv
- A 4-digit OTP will be generated and shown on your screen
- Enable your camera and show the OTP while ensuring you are clearly visible
If you need help enabling your camera, see How can the camera be enabled for an in person verification (IPV)?
Important guidelines for IPV
You must ensure that only you (the account holder) are present during the IPV. Your IPV will be rejected if anyone else is present.
Special cases
- Minor accounts: Both the guardian and the minor must be present during the IPV.
- Joint accounts: Each account holder must use the mobile number mentioned in the KYC forms to complete their own IPV.
