Why is the buy option not available for some Zerodha SIP or lumpsum investments?

The buy option is not available for certain mutual fund schemes because Asset Management Companies (AMCs) have suspended Zerodha SIP or lumpsum investments due to valuation and size constraints.

The following schemes currently have suspended Zerodha SIP or lumpsum investments:

Scheme name Circular Investment limit
SBI Small Cap Fund 20210205-13 ₹25000/- per month

Mirae Asset Large & Midcap Fund

20231009-8 ₹25,000/- per month

HDFC Defence Fund

20260504-8
₹25,000/- per month

Nippon India Small Cap Fund

20260331-3
₹2,00,000 per instalment and ₹46,00,000 per month

Alternative investment option

You can still invest in these schemes using AMC SIP instead of Zerodha SIP. AMC SIPs do not offer certain features available with Zerodha SIPs, including:

  • Instant pause and resume
  • Instant modification
  • Step-up SIPs

AMCs impose these restrictions to manage fund size and maintain proper portfolio valuations, particularly for small-cap funds that may face liquidity constraints with large inflows.
